Tragic Waterfall Incident Puts VIMSAR in Mourning
Two final-year MBBS students from VIMSAR Burla, identified as Monica Meena (Rajasthan) and Sandeep Puri (Delhi), tragically drowned while bathing at Deojharan waterfall in Sambalpur district. They were part of a group of six visiting the site when a sudden flash flood swept them away. Despite rescue efforts, both were declared dead on arrival at VIMSAR’s hospital.
Campus life at the medical college is now marked by grief, and authorities have registered an unnatural death case, launching an investigation. The incident has highlighted ongoing safety risks at local water bodies, despite prior warnings issued by the institute and surrounding authorities.Â
