The northeastern states of India are facing one of the worst flood disasters in recent years. Continuous monsoon rains have triggered massive floods and landslides across Assam, Manipur, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura, claiming at least 36 lives and affecting more than 5.5 lakh people.

Assam remains the epicenter of the flood crisis. With 15 rivers, including the Brahmaputra, flowing above danger levels, around 5.35 lakh people in 22 districts have been impacted. Villages are submerged, homes destroyed, and transport services paralyzed.
